Acts 18: 17
Then they turned on Sosthenes the Synagogue ruler and beat him in front of the court. But Gallio showed no concern whatever.
Paul once again suffered in the hands of his own people for preaching about Christ. Though Jesus came to save all but salvation was first for the Jews. I believe that their unbelief led them to take such actions.
Our own people are some people around us who are never pleased with whatever we do. They believe and always think that anything done by someone else is not as good as theirs. Some goes to the extent of making mockery out of it. Paul was beating in front of the court by his fellow Jews.
Paul was encouraged by the words of Jesus in Acts 18:9-10 Do not be afraid, keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city .
Let us also be encouraged by the words of Jesus even as we are confronted by our own people.
Let us pray
Lord help me to be strong and stand firm against any opposition that seeks to frustrate the will of God in my life
